Recently released results from NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination for nurses in the U.S.) boards show that scores from students at Harrisburg's Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) exceeded both state and federal average scores in the Registered and Practical Nursing categories. Nurses from SIC passed their examinations for Practical Nursing and Registered Nursing at 97 and 93 percent, respectively. The overall rate for both at the state level was 91 percent, while the national averages were somewhat lower.
The SIC Director of Nursing credits a comprehensive assessment program, the implementation of critical thinking exercises into the curriculum, a move to more functional quarters and the partnership with clinical sites that provide their students with hands-on experience.
