3/2/2010

University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) Chancellor Richard Ringeisen on Monday announced his retirement, effective on October 31, 2010. In his remarks, Chancellor Ringeisen cited proud accomplishments of the transition of UIS to a four-year university, new sports programs and increased enrollment during his tenure. Student enrollment for the fall semester was at more than 4,900, which is a record for the school.

Although UIS is facing another difficult budget year, Ringeisen expressed his confidence that, "UIS has a great future."
